About Jeep Food Ride

Jeep-Food-Ride-1C-For-Rounds
Established in 2002, the annual Jeep Food Ride is held in support of La Crosse, Wisconsin’s Rotary Lights stated mission to “feed the hungry of the Coulee Region”.

Each year, Jeepers from around the state of Wisconsin as well as some from Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa, collect non-perishable food and monetary donations from their workplace, friends, family or anyone willing to support our efforts. Monetary donations are pooled and used to purchase non-perishable food in bulk.

The Jeepers come together each year on a Saturday in December. Food donations are gathered, counted, and boxed in preparation for the Saturday night donation event. As evening approaches, the group gathers at our partner, Pischke Motors, to remove tops and doors from the Jeeps and decorate each vehicle with a variety of Christmas lights and displays. The group then proceeds as a lighted parade through Rotary Lights, becoming a part of the spirit of helping the hungry.

Our 501(c)(3) Journey...

In the last several years, Jeep Food Ride received an increasing number of inquiries about 501(c)(3) status. Jeep Food Ride was always reluctant to become a 501(c)(3) as the application and filing process would negatively impact the funds available to purchase food for that year. In October of 2025, Jeep Food Ride Founder Eric Loewenhagen made the decision to form Bad Axe Foundation and seek 501(c)(3) status.

We have filed our application for recognition as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Upon approval, our exemption will be retroactive to our incorporation date of October 30th, 2025, and contributions received on or after that date will be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
